Wage and Hour Laws
Wage and Hour Laws ensure the fair practice of a company or other organization paying at least at a minimum wage to the employees and prevent organizations from paying their employees below this set amount. The laws also cover aspects of hours worked by employees and payment compensation for a normal workweek and then payment distributions for any hours worked over the standards of a normal workweek. This covers overtime, special holiday pay, small business employer payment requirements and other aspects that regulate the fair treatment of employees within a wage and hour context.
State laws can differ between the amount of minimum wages for employees, and organizations can implement their own regulations on giving employees overtime hours, but cannot adjust the payments made to these employees in regards to overtime work.
